– Firmly holding corner, forcefully pull side member extension

-1- from side panel.

Note

Cut bonding using suitable equipment, if required.

– Apply 2K glass adhesive -DA 004 600 A2- to sealing surfaces

-3- and -4- evenly along the complete length of the side mem‐

ber extension -1- using double cartridge gun -VAS 5237- .

– Apply 2K glass adhesive -DA 004 600 A2- to front and rear

spacers -5-.

5. Mouldings and trims

– Then tighten bolt -2-.
– Press side member extension -1- on firmly and secure it with

textile adhesive tape.

– Loosen bolts -6- on front and rear spacers -5-.
– Move front and rear spacers -5- so that they are in full contact

with side member.

– Then tighten bolts -6- on spacer -5-.

Note

The side member extension -1- must lie evenly on the side member over the complete length, otherwise a

perfect bond cannot be guaranteed.

6.1

Safety requirements

Caution

When removing special add-on parts, use suitable gloves and

protective eyewear.
Special add-on parts must cure at least 3 hours after being

bonded before work on the vehicle is continued.

Note

The following special add-on parts have been developed to

fulfil the technical requirements of the respective models.

These special add-on parts should always be replaced with

the corresponding genuine parts.

Without these special add-on parts, the vehicle will not comply

with the traffic regulations.

6.2

Fitting notes for extensions

Note

The side member extension are applied with adhesive at the

factory.

The side member extensions are supplied primed by the sup‐

plier.

Ensure the side member extension adhesive surfaces remain

free of paint and paint mist when painting extensions.

Preparing body kit component for bond‐

ing

Note

Remaining material serves as adhesion base for newly applied

adhesive sealing compound. Keep dirt and grease off of bonding

surfaces.

Exception: If bonding is not performed immediately after cutting

back, the remaining residual material must be activated with ac‐

tivator -D 181 801 A1- .
