5.2.1

Removing

– Remove bolts -1- (Torx T25) from body.
– Remove side panel trim strip -2- in direction of -arrow-.
As necessary

– Slide retainer -2- forwards and release it as described

-arrow-.

– Remove damaged bolts -1-.

Note

The part number for bolts -1- deviates from the production num‐

ber. Refer to parts department.

5.2.2

Installing

– Clean side panel and retainer to remove adhesive remains,

we recommend isopropyl alcohol.

As necessary
– Install bolts -1-. Specified torque: 1.2 ±0.1 Nm
– Install retainer -2-, by checking that all bolts fit in their respec‐

tive holes then slide retainer forwards.

5. Mouldings and trims

– Secure front of side panel trim strip -2- using a bolt -1-. Speci‐

fied torque: 2 ±0.5 Nm.

– Remove protective backing -3- from double-sided tape of side

panel trim strip -2- using a wedge.

– Secure side panel trim strip -2- by pressing it onto body.
– Install remaining bolts -1- (Qty. 3). Specified torque: 2 ±0.5 Nm

5.3

Side member extension, Jetta Cup Edi‐

tion

Note

The removal and installation sequence is for the left side member

(sill) extension. The removal and installation of the right side

member (sill) extension is similar.

2 - PUR adhesive sealant

❑ Lower adhesive surface
❑ Bead cross section:

width = 8 mm; height = 8

mm

❑ Minimum curing period

3 - Bolt

❑ Specified torque: 2 ±0.5

Nm

4 - PUR adhesive sealant

❑ Upper adhesive surface
❑ Bead cross section:

width = 8 mm; height = 8

mm

❑ Minimum curing period

5 - Spacer

❑ At front and rear.
❑ Qty. 2 on each side

6 - Bolt

❑ Qty. 2 per spacer
❑ Specified torque: 2 Nm

Note

The side member extension cannot be removed without being damaged.

WARNING

Clean all surrounding parts before beginning work and mask

them with tape.
Do  not  use  cutting  wire  to  remove  side  member  extension

-1-.

– Remove bolt -3-.
– From below, remove bolts -6- from front and rear spacers

-5-.

– Before removing, heat side member extension -1- in bonding

surface areas -2- and -4- with hot air blower -V.A.G 1416- .
