Throttle Body Assembly

(1100 cc Z1)

REMOVING/DISASSEMBLING

„ NOTE: To remove the throttle body assembly, it
will be necessary to remove the air silencer. Pro-
ceed to Section 3 - Servicing Air Silencer (1100 cc
Z1) sub-section and follow steps 1-12 of REMOV-
ING.

13. Remove the coolant hoses and MAP sensor

hoses from the throttle body.

14. Loosen the throttle cable jam nut; then remove

the throttle cable from the bracket and the throt-

tle valve cam.

15. Remove the cable ties securing the fuel injector

wiring harness to the fuel rail; then disconnect

the harness from the fuel injectors.

„ NOTE: For installing purposes, note the location
of all cable ties.

16. Loosen the clamps securing the throttle bodies

to the intake boots; then remove the throttle

body assembly.

17. Remove the retaining clips securing the fuel rail

to the injectors; then remove the two screws

securing the fuel rail to the throttle body assem-

bly. Remove the fuel rail and injectors from the

throttle body assembly.

„ NOTE: For assembling purposes, note from
which side the fuel injectors were removed.

18. Remove the two screws securing the ISC valve;

then remove the valve from the throttle body

assembly.

„ NOTE: For assembling purposes, note the color-
marks on the throttle body assembly and ISC
valve. Also, note the different-size cap screws.

19. Remove the screw securing the throttle sensor;

then remove the sensor from the throttle body

assembly.

ASSEMBLING/INSTALLING

1. Place the throttle sensor in position on the throt-

tle body assembly; then secure with the screw.

2. With the color-marks properly aligned as noted

during disassembling, install the ISC valve and

secure it to the throttle body assembly with the

two different-size cap screws.

3. Install the fuel injectors onto the throttle body

assembly; then secure the fuel rail and injectors

to the throttle body assembly with the two

screws and the retaining clips.

„ NOTE: Always use new O-rings on the injectors
before installing.

4. Install the throttle body assembly to the intake

boots and tighten the clamps; then install the

coolant hoses and the MAP sensor hoses. Secure

the coolant hoses with the clamps.

5. Connect the injector wiring harness to the injec-

tors; then secure the harness to the fuel rail with

cable ties in the proper locations as noted during

disassembling.

„ NOTE: It is critical at this point to adjust the
throttle position sensor to specification. Refer to
the proper sub-section Checking/Adjusting TPS
procedure in Section 5 - Throttle Position Sensor
in this manual.

6. Install the throttle cable to the bracket on the

throttle body assembly and to the throttle valve

cam; then secure the cable with the jam nut.

„ NOTE: Assure that there is proper free-play in
the throttle cable when securing the jam nut.

„ NOTE: To finalize this procedure, it is necessary
to install the air silencer. Proceed to Section 3 -
Servicing Air Silencer (1100 cc Z1) sub-section
and follow steps 3-12 of INSTALLING.

Throttle Position 

Sensor

(660 cc/1100 cc Z1)

„ NOTE: To check, adjust, or replace the throttle
position sensor, refer to the proper sub-section
Checking/Adjusting TPS procedure in Section 5 -
Throttle Position Sensor in this manual.

Fuel Filter 

(660 cc)

„ NOTE: The fuel filter should be replaced every
5000 miles.

„ NOTE: Before removing the fuel filter, take note
of the filter inlet and outlet for installing purposes.

REMOVING/INSPECTING

1. Remove the cap screw securing the strap to the

fuel filter bracket.

2. Remove the hose clamps and discard; then

slowly remove the fuel hoses from the fuel filter.

Dispose of the excess fuel from the filter prop-

erly.

3. Inspect the fuel lines thoroughly for any signs of

cracking, cuts, or wear points.

4. Place the new hose clamps on the fuel hoses;

then with the fuel pump inlet and outlet noted,

connect the fuel hoses to the fuel pump. Secure

with the hose clamps.

! WARNING

Since the fuel supply hose may be under pressure,
always wear safety glasses when removing the fuel
hoses. 

! CAUTION

Since the fuel supply hose may be under pressure,
remove it slowly to release the pressure. Place an
absorbent towel around the connection to absorb
the fuel.
