as high as possible. Be careful not to damage the surface pro‐

tection. Refer to ⇒  Suspension, Wheels, Steering; Rep. Gr. 

40 ; Drive Axles, Removing and Installing .

– Remove the pendulum support. Refer to ⇒  Suspension,

Wheels, Steering; Rep. Gr.  40 ; Subframe; Overview - Sub‐

frame .

– If equipped, remove engine/transmission connecting bolt

-arrow- in area of right flange shaft. Use the connector Socket

- Xzn 14 - T10061- to do so.

– If equipped, remove the cover plate -A- -arrows-.

– Carefully move the engine/transmission subassembly into an

angled position. To do so lower the engine/transmission as‐

sembly using the Engine Support Bridge - 10-222A- spindle.

• The bolts -arrows- for the transmission support must be ac‐

cessible.

– Remove the transmission support from the transmission

-arrows-.

The Transmission Support - 3282- is aligned with the Transmis‐

sion Support - Mounting Plate 31 - 3282/31- in order to remove

the “0AF” transmission.
– Insert the Transmission Support - 3282- into the Engine and

Gearbox Jack - VAS6931- .

– Align the arms of the Transmission Support so that they match

up with the holes in the Adjustment Plate .

– Install the Support Elements -A- as illustrated on the Adjust‐

ment Plate .

– Install the Mounting Element -C- instead of the Transmission

Support - Pins 45 - 3282/45- .

– Position the Engine and Transmission Jack under the vehicle.

The arrow symbol -B- on the Adjusting Plate points in the di‐

rection of travel.

– Align the adjustment plate so that it is parallel to the transmis‐

sion.

-A- = Transmission Support - Pins 45 - 3282/45- with M 8 collar

nut.
– Install the M8 collar nut on the Transmission Support - Pins 45

- 3282/45- to secure the transmission.

– Remove the engine/transmission connecting bolt -arrow-.
– Remove the lower engine/transmission bolts.

– Remove the transmission from the alignment bushings and

carefully move it toward the subframe.

– Be careful of the intermediate plate on the engine.
– Carefully push the engine slightly forward with a second tech‐

nician.

– Then carefully guide transmission with right flange shaft, as

shown, onto flywheel/intermediate plate -arrow 2-.

– Lower the transmission carefully. When doing this, be careful

of the subframe -arrow 1-.

– Guide the transmission past the power steering line, if instal‐

led, and past the subframe when lowering it.

– Use spindles on the Transmission Support - 3282- to adjust

the position of the transmission while lowering it.

Note

Pay attention to all of the lines when lowering the transmission.

3.2

Transmission, Installing, Jetta 2011 with

2.0L Engine

needed. Refer to

page 95

– Clean all threaded holes with a thread tap to remove any lock‐

ing fluid residue.

– Always replace self-locking bolts and nuts.
– Make sure the alignment sleeves for centering the engine/

transmission are installed inside the cylinder block. Install

them if necessary.

If the alignment sleeves are missing, it will be difficult to shift, there

will be clutch problems and the transmission may make noises

(loose rattling).
– Make sure the intermediate plate fits correctly on the engine.
– Clean the driveshaft splines and grease lightly with Grease For

Clutch Disc Shaft Splines - G 000 100- .

It must be possible to slide the clutch plate back and forth on the

input shaft.
The Transmission Support - 3282- is aligned with the Transmis‐

sion Support - Mounting Plate 31 - 3282/31- in order to install the

“0AF” transmission.

Gearbox Jack - VAS6931- .

– Place the Transmission Support - Mounting Plate 31 -

3282/31- on the Transmission Support - 3282- (the mounting

plate only fits in one position).

– Align the Transmission Support arms so that they align with

the holes in the Mounting Plate .

– Install the Support Elements -A- as illustrated on the Adjust‐

ment Plate .

– Install the Mounting Element -C- instead of the Transmission

Support - Pins 45 - 3282/45- .

– Align the Adjustment Plate so that it is parallel to the trans‐

mission.

– Position the Engine and Transmission Jack under the vehicle.

The arrow symbol -B- on the Adjusting Plate points in the di‐

rection of travel.

A = Transmission Support - Pins 45 - 3282/45- with M 8 collar nut.
– Install the M8 collar nut on the Transmission Support - Pins 45

- 3282/45- to secure the transmission.

– Carefully lift the transmission. Be careful of the power steering

line (if equipped).

– Carefully push the engine slightly forward with a second tech‐

nician.

– Guide the transmission carefully past the flywheel -arrow 2-

and past the subframe -arrow 1-.

• A second technician must continue to press the engine for‐

ward.

– Align the transmission with the engine and install it.
– Install the lower bolts for attaching the engine to the transmis‐

sion and tighten them to the tightening specification. Refer to

⇒ “3.3 Tightening Specifications”, page 108

 .
