♦ It is necessary to use the Oil Filler - Adapter 6 - VAS6262/6-

on some oil containers.

♦ It may be necessary to shorten the bleed pipe on the Oil Filler

- VAS6262A- . Refer to 

⇒ page 112

 .

Shorten the Bleed Pipe on the Oil Filler - VAS6262A- as Follows:
– Shorten the pipe to dimension -a-. This assures the bleed pipe

on the Oil Filler - VAS6262A- will not touch the bottom on some

oil containers.

• Dimension -a- = 210 mm

Note

Dimension -a- is measured starting from the shaft (the green sur‐

face) on the Oil Filler - VAS6262A- .

– Make a mark on the bleed pipe, dimension -a-, and cut it, with

for example the Brake Line Tool Kit - Pipe Cutter -

VAS6056/2- .

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm - VAG1331-
♦ Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit - SMN372500-
♦ Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

Part. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
– Always replace the seal -arrow- for the ATF check plug when

checking the ATF level.

ATF Level, Checking

Procedure
– Turn off the engine.

C (86 °F) at the start of the test.
• Transmission is not in emergency running mode, and ATF

temperature is not higher than 30 °C (86 °F).

• Vehicle is level
• The selector lever is in “P.”
– Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and move through se‐

lections until it is ready to be used. Refer to

⇒ “1  Tester, Connecting”, page 13

 .

– Press »right« 

Guided Functions

.

– Select the vehicle, the transmission and 

check ATF level

.

– Press the 

 button.

– Start the engine.
– Raise the vehicle.
– Remove the noise insulation. Refer to ⇒  Body Exterior; Rep.

Gr.  50 ; Noise Insulation .

– Place the Drip Tray or Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit

- SMN372500- under the transmission.

– Press the 

 button.

If the test temperature 35 ° to 45 °C (95 ° to 113 °F) is displayed:

– Remove the ATF check plug from the ATF pan.

ATF flows out of the overflow pipe.
If ATF Continues to Leak Out of Hole
ATF does not need to be topped off.
– Tighten the ATF check plug with a new gasket to 27 Nm. The

ATF level test is now completed.

If No Oil Drips Out of the Hole
– Fill with ATF. Refer to 

⇒ “11.2 ATF, Filling”, page 114

 .

Procedure
• Place the Drip Tray or Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit

- SMN372500- under the transmission.
