Display will appear as shown:

Both displays must change from 0 to 1 at same time.

Center display = Brake Vacuum Vent Valve Switch -F47-  

z

Right-hand display = Brake Light Switch -F-  

z

Slowly release brake pedal to rest position again.  

Both displays must change from 1 to 0 again.

If one or both displays do not change:

Adjust switch point for -F47- by turning switch.  

z

Adjust switch point for -F- by moving plunger.  

z

Check switches or wiring to the switches: 

See appropriate System Wiring Diagram article. 

z

Display the Readiness code. See READINESS CODE, DISPLAYING .  

If DTC memory was erased: 

z

Set the readiness code. See READINESS CODE, SETTING .  

Clutch Vacuum Vent Valve Switch -F36-, checking 

Clutch Vacuum Vent Valve Switch -F36- informs the ECM when the clutch is being engaged or disengaged. 
This prevents the engine from jerking when disengaging and engaging. It also prevents the engine from racing 
during disengagement operations when the Cruise Control System is switched ON.

Connect VAG1551/1552 Scan Tool. See VAG1551/1552 SCAN TOOL, CONNECTING .  

z

Switch ON ignition but do not start engine.  

z

Press -0- and -1- buttons to select Address word 01: "Engine electronics"  

Display will appear as shown (example only):
