Measure resistance between sensor terminals 1 + 3.

Specification (see diagram): 

Scale A shows resistance values for temperature range 0 to 50 °C and scale B the values for temperature range 
50 to 100 °C.

Examples:

30 °C corresponds to a resistance from 1500 to 2000 ohm  

z

80 °C corresponds to a resistance from 275 to 375 ohm  

If specification not obtained: 

z

Replace Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor -G62-.  

z

Display the Readiness code. See READINESS CODE, DISPLAYING .  

If DTC memory was erased: 

z

Set the readiness code. See READINESS CODE, SETTING . 

If specification obtained: 

z

Connect VAG1598/22 (or 1598/31) Test Box to ECM wiring harness.
