– Connect the connector -1- to the Back-Up Lamp Switch - F4- .
– Install the starter, connect the connector -arrow 2- and attach

the wire -arrow 3-. Refer to ⇒  Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr. 

27 ; Starter; Overview - Starter .

– If equipped, install the upper ground cable.
– Make sure the vacuum hose for the brake system is installed

correctly. Install a vacuum hose, if necessary. Refer to ⇒ 

Brake System; Rep. Gr.  47 ; Brake Booster/Brake Master

Cylinder; Overview - Brake Booster/Brake Master Cylinder .

– If equipped, attach the bracket -B- on the transmission.
– If necessary press the hose/line assembly -A- into the bracket

-B- on the transmission.

– Mount the cable bracket on the transmission and tighten the

bolts -arrows-. Refer to

⇒ “1.3 Overview - Selector Mechanism”, page 53

 .

– Install the transmission shift lever -A-. Refer to

⇒ Fig. ““Installing the Transmission Shift Lever”“ , page 62

 .

– Tighten the hex nut -arrow 3-. Refer to

⇒ “5.5 Overview - Shift Unit”, page 96

 .

– Coat the pin on the gearshift lever with a small amount of

grease -A-.

Allocate the grease for gearshift mechanism. Refer to the Parts

Catalog.
– Attach the shift cable to the gearshift lever.
– Replace the lock washer -arrow 2- after removing.
– Install the relay lever together with the cable retainer. Refer to

⇒ Fig. ““Remove the Relay Lever and the Cable Retainer.”“ ,

page 58

 .

The clip -arrow 1- secures the relay lever.
• Make sure the clips locks securely.
– Connect the selector cable to the cable retainer.
– Adjust the gearshift mechanism. Refer to

⇒ “1.6 Selector Mechanism, Adjusting”, page 63

 .

– If unclipped, carefully clip in the A/C system pipe and do not

disconnect the line system. Refer to ⇒  Heating, Ventilation

and Air Conditioning; Rep. Gr.  87 ; Refrigerant Circuit; System

Overview - Refrigerant Circuit .

– Install fuel filter. Do not open the line system. Refer to ⇒  Rep.

Gr.  20 ; Fuel Filter; Overview - Fuel Filter .

Note

If when removing the flange shaft, the transmission fluid leaks out,

drain and fill the transmission fluid for the installed transmission

and flange shaft. Refer to 

⇒ “8 Transmission Fluid”, page 125

 .

– Install the battery tray, battery and the battery cover. Refer to

⇒  Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.  27 ; Battery; Battery, Re‐

moving and Installing .

– Install the air filter housing. Refer to ⇒  Engine Mechanical,

Fuel Injection and Ignition; Rep. Gr.  24 ; Air Filter; Air Filter

Housing, Removing and Installing .

– Install the engine cover. Refer to ⇒  Rep. Gr.  10 ; Engine

Cover; Engine Cover, Removing and Installing .

– Connect the battery and follow the procedure regarding what

to do after connecting a battery. Refer to ⇒  Electrical Equip‐

ment; Rep. Gr.  27 ; Battery; Battery, Disconnecting and

Connecting .

– Install the left charge air hose -A- -arrows-. Refer to ⇒  Engine

Mechanical, Fuel Injection and Ignition; Rep. Gr.  21 ; Charge

Air System; Overview - Charge Air System .

– Install the lower section of the left front wheel housing liner.

Refer to ⇒  Body Exterior; Rep. Gr.  66 ; Wheel Housing Liner;

Front Wheel Housing Liner, Removing and Installing .

– Install the noise insulation. Refer to ⇒  Body Exterior; Rep. Gr. 

66 ; Noise Insulation; Overview - Noise Insulation .

– Check the headlamp adjustment on vehicles with Left Front

Level Control System Sensor - G78- . Refer to ⇒  Electrical

Equipment; Rep. Gr.  94 ; Headlamp; Headlamp, Adjusting .
