Make sure that the coil spring is properly seated in spring holder V.A.G1752/4. See Fig. 35 .

3. Slowly release tension on spring and remove upper strut mount, spring plate and coil spring. See Fig. 37 

Remove protective sleeve and buffer stop.  

4. Remove old strut from holder or vise. Place new strut into holder or vise. Install coil spring. Verify that 

coil spring rests against lower spring plate stop. See Fig. 36 . Install buffer stop and protective sleeve. 

CAUTION: First compress the spring until the upper spring plate is no longer 

under load.

5. Compress coil spring. Install spring plate and upper strut mount. Top end of coil spring must rest against 

stop of spring plate.  

6. Install NEW piston rod nut. Tighten piston rod nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
