perature Sensor 4 - G648- -1- as well as the »brown« con‐

nector for the Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic

Converter - G130- -3-.

– Disconnect from the bracket -2- and guide the lines out on the

underbody -arrows-.

– Remove the NOx reduction catalytic converter mounting on

the subframe. Refer to

⇒ “1.2 Overview - Particulate Filter with NOx Reduction Cat‐

alytic Converter”, page 360

 .

– Lower the subframe approximately 6 cm. Refer to ⇒  Suspen‐

sion, Wheels, Steering; Rep. Gr.  40 ; Subframe; Subframe,

Lowering .

– Remove the tunnel brace. Refer to

⇒ “1.7 Overview - Muffler”, page 381

 .

– Remove the clamp between the NOx reduction catalytic con‐

verter and the Exhaust Door Control Unit - J883- .

Caution

There is a risk of damaging the decoupling element between

the  particulate  filter  and  NOx  reduction  catalytic  converter.

When removing and installing:

♦ Do not bend the decoupling element more than 10°.
♦ Do not stretch the decoupling element.
♦ Do not damage the wire mesh on the decoupling element.
♦ Use the Transportation Lock - T10404- to secure the de‐

coupling element from stretching.

Vehicles with Engine Code CJAA
– Disconnect the clamp between the NOx reduction catalytic

converter and the particulate filter and remove the NOx re‐

duction catalytic converter.

Continuation for All Engine Codes
– Remove the particulate filter. Be careful of the electrical wires

and components.

Installing:

Note

After installing the particulate filter with NOx reduction catalytic

converter, make sure it is not under stress.

Always replace the self-locking nuts, seals, gaskets and

clamps.
