CHECKS -

CHECKS

Handbrake

Where  the  handbrake  travel  is  too
great  or  there  is  a  reduction  in  the
performance  of  the  system,  the
handbrake should be adjusted, even
between services.
   Have  the  system  checked  by  a
PEUGEOT  dealer.

   Only use products recom-
mended  by   PEUGEOT
or  products  of  equivalent

quality and speciﬁ cations.

   To  ensure  best  performance  from
components  as  important  as  the
power  steering  and  the  braking
system,   PEUGEOT   selects  and

offers quite speciﬁ c products.
To prevent damage to the electrical
units, avoid washing the engine.

Air filter and passenger
compartment filter

Have the ﬁ lter elements replaced reg-

ularly. If you drive in dusty condi-
tions, change them twice as often.

Brake pads

Brake pad wear depends on the style
of  driving,  in  particular  for  vehicles
which  are  used  in  town,  over  short
distances.
It  may  be  necessary  to  check  the
thickness of the pads, even between
services.

Brake disc/drum wear status

   For  further  information  relating  to
checking  brake  disc  and/or  drum
wear, contact a  PEUGEOT  dealer.

Oil filter

Change the ﬁ lter regularly, in accor-

dance with the servicing schedule.

FUEL SUPPLY CUT-OFF

In  a  serious  collision,  a  system  pre-
vents fuel from reaching the engine.
To re-establish the fuel supply, press
the  switch  on  the  angle  of  the  front
left-hand  suspension  assembly,  un-
der the bonnet.

Manual gearbox

This does not require an oil change.
Have  the  level  checked  in  accor-
dance  with  the  manufacturer's  ser-
vicing schedule.
  To check the main levels and cer-
tain  components,  in  accordance
with  the  manufacturer's  servicing
schedule,  refer  to  the  pages  of
the servicing booklet which corre-
spond to your vehicle's engine.

Battery

At the start of winter, have your bat-
tery checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.

Access to the spare wheel and
the jack
- Raise the ﬂ oor using the grab

handle.

- Secure the handle behind the

boot seal.

CHANGING A WHEEL

Tools
The following tools are stored in a

holder, located in the centre of the

spare wheel:
1.

Wheelbrace.

Wheelbrace extension.

Jack.

Removable chock.

Centring guide for alloy wheels.

Alloy wheel "bolt cover" tool.

Note:

diagrams engraved on the

holder indicate the location of the

tools.

Parking the vehicle
- If possible, park the vehicle on

level, stable and non-slippery

ground.

- Apply the handbrake, switch off

the ignition and engage ﬁ rst or

reverse gear (position P for the

automatic gearbox).

Removing a wheel


Place the tool holder and chock 4

assembly (or the chock 4 alone

if necessary) under the wheel di-

agonally opposite the wheel to be

changed.



On vehicles ﬁ tted with steel

wheels, remove the wheel trim

using the extension 2 , by pulling

at the valve passage hole.



On vehicles ﬁ tted with alloy

wheels, ﬁ rst remove the chromed

bolt covers using the tool 6 (see

paragraph "Special features of al-

loy wheels").



Slacken the wheel bolts using the

wheelbrace 1 .



Place the jack 3 under one of

the four locating points A on the

sub-frame, the one closest to the

wheel to be changed.



Extend the jack using the wheel-

brace 1 and the extension 2 . En-

sure that the centreline of the jack

base plate is directly in line with

the locating point A used.



Remove an upper wheel bolt and

install the centring guide 5 in its

place.



Raise the vehicle.



Remove the remaining bolts and

remove the wheel.

For your safety, always

change a wheel:

- on level, stable and non slip-

pery ground,

- with the handbrake applied,

- with ﬁ rst or reverse gear en-

gaged,

- with the vehicle chocked using

the storage box,

- never go underneath a vehi-

cle raised using a jack (use an

axle stand).



On vehicles ﬁ tted with alloy wheels,

reﬁ t the chromed bolt covers.



Store the tools and the wheel in

the boot.



Tighten the spare wheel secur-

ing strap to avoid vibration and

for your safety in the event of an

impact.

Reﬁ tting the wheel


Put the wheel in place using the

centring guide 5 to assist you.



Screw in the wheel bolts by hand

and remove the centring guide.



Pre-tighten the bolts using the

wheelbrace 1 .



Compress the jack 3 and release it.



Fully tighten the bolts using the

wheelbrace.



On vehicles ﬁ tted with steel

wheels, replace the trim starting

by positioning its notch opposite

the valve and press it on using

the palm of the hand.

After changing the wheel
- Have the tightening of the bolts

and the pressure of the spare

tyre checked as soon as pos-

sible by a PEUGEOT dealer.

- Have the punctured tyre re-

paired and replace it on the

vehicle as soon as possible.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF
ALLOY WHEELS

Fitting the spare wheel

If your vehicle is equipped with a

steel spare wheel, when ﬁ tting it, it is

normal

to notice that the bolt wash-

ers do not come into contact with the

rim. The spare wheel is secured by

the cone shape of each bolt.

Wheel anti-theft bolts

If your wheels are ﬁ tted with anti-theft

bolts (one per wheel), the chrome-

plated trim cap and then the plastic

cover on the wheel must be removed,

using the yellow tool 6 , before slack-

ening the bolt using the anti-theft

socket (located in the glove box) and

the wheelbrace.
Note:

take a careful note of the code

number engraved on the head of the

anti-theft socket. This will enable you

to obtain a duplicate anti-theft socket

from a PEUGEOT dealer.

Fitting snow tyres

If you ﬁ t snow tyres that are mounted

on steel rims onto your vehicle, it is

essential

that you use special bolts

available from your PEUGEOT dealer.

Bolt covers

Alloy wheel bolts are covered by

chrome trims.

Use the yellow tool 6 to remove the

trims before slackening the bolts.

The yellow tool 6 is located in the

jack storage compartment.

Pull the tab A upwards then rear-

wards and remove the protective

cover.



Disconnect the connector(s) B .



Press the end of the securing

clip C to remove it. Change the

faulty bulb.



On ﬁ tting, ensure that the direc-

tion notches are in the correct po-

sition and that the clip is secured

correctly.



Reconnect the connector.



Replace the protective cover,

then the screen wash reservoir

ﬁ ller pipe (right-hand side).

CHANGING A BULB

To make access easier, on the right-

hand side

, ﬁ rst remove the screen

wash reservoir ﬁ ller pipe:


align the notches by turning,



pull upwards.

Depending on the version of your

vehicle, refer to the corresponding

dipped headlamps/main beam head-

lamps combination.

Remove the protective cover D

for the H7 55 W bulb or E for the

H1 55 W bulb.



Disconnect the connector(s) F .



Press the end of the securing

clip(s) G to remove it(them).

Change the faulty bulb.



On ﬁ tting, ensure that the direc-

tion notches are in the correct po-

sition and that the securing clip(s)

is(are) secured correctly.



Reconnect the connector.



Replace the protective cover(s),

then the screen wash reservoir

ﬁ ller pipe (right-hand side).

3. Amber direction indicators

PY 21 W



Turn the pin connector 3 a quar-

ter turn (towards the front of the

vehicle) and remove it.



Change the bulb.

Push the repeater forwards or

rearwards and release the as-

sembly.



Support the connector and turn the

transparent cover a quarter turn.



Change the bulb.

2. Side lights W 5 W



Turn the pin connector 2 a quar-

ter turn and remove it.



Change the bulb.

Handle the bulbs with a

dry cloth.

The headlamps are ﬁ tted

with polycarbonate glass

with a protective coating. Do not

clean them using a dry or abra-
sive cloth, or using detergents
or solvents

Use a sponge and soapy water.

Rear fog lamp P21 W

Unclip the lamp and release the as-

sembly.

Turn the pin connector a quarter turn

and remove it.

Change the bulb.

Number plate lights W 5 W

Insert a thin screwdriver into one of

the outer holes of the transparent

cover.

Push it outwards to unclip it.

Remove the transparent cover.

Change the faulty bulb.

Front fog lamps H1 55 W

Press under the access ﬂ ap to re-

lease it.

Open the ﬂ ap.

Turn the cover to remove it.

Disconnect the bulb.

Press the two ends of the securing

clip to release the bulb.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION -

Rear lights

   1.    Direction indicators P21 W.
  2.    Reversing lights P21 W.
  3.    Brake lights/side lights P21/5 W.

Unclip the boot side trim.

Unclip the foam cover and reach be-

hind the cover to locate the wing nut.

Remove the wing nut.

Release the light unit.

Press the lug A and disconnect the

connector.

Remove the foam.

Move aside the tabs B and remove

the bulb holder.

Change the faulty bulb.

Third brake light

This is ﬁ tted with diodes.

In the event of a fault, consult a

PEUGEOT dealer.

When reﬁ tting, ensure that the bulb

holder, the light and the foam cover

are repositioned correctly.

Rear fog lamp P21 W

Unclip the lamp and release the as-

sembly.

Turn the pin connector a quarter turn

and remove it.

Change the bulb.

Number plate lights W 5 W

Insert a thin screwdriver into one of

the outer holes of the transparent

cover.

Push it outwards to unclip it.

Remove the transparent cover.

Change the faulty bulb.

Front fog lamps H1 55 W

Press under the access ﬂ ap to re-

lease it.

Open the ﬂ ap.

Turn the cover to remove it.

Disconnect the bulb.

Press the two ends of the securing

clip to release the bulb.

CHANGING A FUSE

The fuse boxes are located under

the fascia and in the engine compart-

ment.

Unscrew the catch a quarter turn us-

ing a coin then remove the cover to

gain access to the fuses.

The spare fuses and the pliers A are

secured on the inside of the fascia

fuse box cover.

Removing and ﬁ tting a fuse

Before changing a fuse, the cause of the fault must be found and remedied. The

fuse numbers are indicated on the fuse box.

Use the pliers A .
Always replace a faulty fuse with a fuse of the same rating.

The electrical circuit of

your vehicle is designed

to operate with standard

or optional equipment.

Before installing other

electrical equipment or acces-

sories in your vehicle, consult a

PEUGEOT dealer.

Engine compartment fuse box

To gain access to the box in the engine compartment (next to the battery), unclip

the cover.

After carrying out work, close the cover very carefully.

* The maxi fuses provide additional protection for the electrical systems. Any

work on these fuses must be carried out by a PEUGEOT dealer.

Some electrical accessories or the

way in which they are ﬁ tted may

have an adverse effect on the ope-

ration of your vehicle (its electronic

control circuits, the audio circuit and

the electrical charging circuit).

PEUGEOT declines any responsi-

bility for expenses incurred through

the repair of your vehicle or for any

malfunctions resulting from the in-

stallation of auxiliary accessories,

not supplied and not recommended

by PEUGEOT and not installed in

accordance with PEUGEOT’s in-

structions, in particular for any

equipment the power consumption

of which exceeds 10 milliamps.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION -

BATTERY

  To charge the battery using a bat-
tery charger:
   -   Disconnect the battery,
  -

Follow the instructions for use given

by the battery charger manufacturer,

- Reconnect starting with the nega-

tive (-) terminal,

- Check that the terminals and

connectors are clean. If they are

covered with sulphate (white or

greenish deposit), disconnect

them and clean them.

- Never disconnect a terminal

when the engine is running.

- Never charge a battery with-

out ﬁ rst disconnecting the ter-

minals.

- Close the windows and the

roof before disconnecting the

battery.

- After every reconnection of the

battery, switch on the ignition

and wait 1 minute before starting

to allow the electronic systems

to be initialised. If slight difﬁ cul-

ties are experienced after this,

please consult a PEUGEOT

dealer.

It is advisable to discon-
nect the battery if the ve-
hicle is not to be used for
a period of more than one
month.

After the engine has stopped, with the

key in the accessories position, certain

functions (windscreen wiper, electric win-

dows, courtesy light, audio equipment,

etc.) can only be used for a cumulative

duration of thirty minutes, to prevent dis-

charging the battery.

Once the thirty minutes are over, the

active functions are put on standby.

To resume the use of these functions

immediately, start the engine and let

it run for a few minutes.

The time that you will then have

available will be double the time dur-

ing which the engine was running.

However, this time will always be be-

tween ﬁ ve and thirty minutes.

  To  start  the  vehicle  from  another
battery:
   -   Connect the red cable to the posi-

tive (+) terminals of the two bat-

teries,

- Connect one end of the green or

black cable to the negative (-) ter-

minal of the slave battery,

- Connect the other end of the

green or black cable to an earth

point on the broken down vehicle,

as far as possible from the bat-

tery (for example, right-hand en-

gine mounting),

Operate the starter, let the engine run,

- Wait for the engine to return to

idle, then disconnect the cables.

A ﬂ at battery will prevent

the engine from starting.

- Wait for 2 minutes af-

ter switching off the

ignition before discon-

necting the battery.

FITTING SPEAKERS

The factory-ﬁ tted equipment allows

the ﬁ tting of:

- 165 mm diameter speakers in the

front doors,

- 130 mm diameter speakers in the

rear doors,

- 22.5 mm diameter tweeters in the

mirror trims.
