Removing

Carry out following work:
– Removing rear lid -1-

If the left hinge -6- is to be removed:
– Remove electric cable -5- from left hinge -6-.
If the right hinge -2- is to be removed:
– Remove gas strut -4- from ball-head pin at right hinge -2-

⇒ page 57

70 ; Pillar and side panel trims .

– Undo and remove bolts -7- and remove left hinge -2-/ right

hinge -6-.

2. Rear lid

Carry out following work:
Installation of hinge is carried out in reverse order of removal.
Specified torque for bolts -4-: 9 Nm.
– Adjusting rear lid

• Before closing rear lid, check function of lid release compo‐

nents.

2.9.1

Removing

Carry out following work:
– Remove cover of striker plate in lock carrier cover.
– Undo bolts -2- and remove striker plate -1- from lock carrier

-3-.

2.9.2

Installing

Carry out following work:
– Mount striker plate -1- on lock carrier -3- with bolts -2-.
Specified torque of bolts -2-: 18 Nm
– Adjust striker plate

– Install cover of striker plate into lock carrier cover.

2. Rear lid

Note

Vehicle must be standing on its wheels to enable rear lid to be adjusted.

♦

The rear lid lock -3- is bolted directly to the rear lid -1-. It does not have elongated holes, so it cannot be

adjusted.

♦

The adjustment buffers -2- on the left and right are not a means of adjustment. Their purpose is to stabilise

and dampen the rear lid -1-.

♦

The rear lid is adjusted correctly if the gaps/shut lines are even all around, the door is not too deep or does

not stand proud and all contours align when the rear lid is closed.

♦

The rear lid must engage in the striker plate without excessive force being applied.

Carry out following work:
Use the setting gauge -3371- ⇒ Body Repairs; Rep. gr.  00 ;

Bodywork gaps/shut lines; Front body to check or set the gap di‐

mensions.
– By loosening the bolts -4-, it is possible to adjust rear lid -1- in

oversized holes of hinge -arrows a- and -b-.
