2003 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS 

1998-2004 ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT Front Doors, Central Locking System - New Beetle

Disconnect all connections and wiring harness clips -arrows-.  

z

Remove bolts/screws -1-, -3- and nut -2-. Pull top of assembly carrier off door, lift and remove from door 
toward hinges.  

z

Turn mounting plate and remove connector from door lock.

Drive out clips -1- with a drift.

Pry door lock with retaining bracket off assembly carrier using a screwdriver -3-.  

z

Pull cable -2- out of assembly carrier. 

z

Unclip Cable -1-.  

z

Turn cable nipple through 90° and take out from eye. 

NOTE:

Retaining bracket is not part of scope of delivery for door lock. It is 
secured to door lock by a bolt/screw and a pop rivet.

Installing 

z

Pull lock lever -1- in direction of -arrow-.  

z

Tension spring -2- which is secured on door lock, in direction of -arrow- with a screwdriver and hook 
locking lever into spring.
