Tighten shear head bolt -10- until head shears off.  

z

Install steering column with preassembled steering lock housing to cross member.  

z

Install hex bolts -5-.  

z

Now insert hex bolt -12-.  

z

Install nut -13- and tighten to 10 N.m (7.4 in lb).  

z

Now tighten bolts -5- to 25 N.m (18 ft lb).  

z

Now pull out transportation securing device -6-.  

z

Install universal joint shaft onto steering pinion -9-.  

z

Tighten bolt 8 to 30 N.m (22 ft lb).

7. Steering column drive shaft

NOTE:

Vehicles with the steering column from the company Presta from 02.00 and up 

New steering columns, which are delivered as spare parts, are secured with a transportation securing device -6-. 

This transportation device 6 must be removed after installing steering column in vehicle . 

The shear head bolt -10- and the roller -11- must be installed on new steering columns, which have been 
supplied as a spare part
 .

Tighten shear head bolt -10- until head shears off.  

z

Install steering column with preassembled steering lock housing to cross member.  

z

Install bolts -5-.  

NOTE:

Now insert hex bolt -12-.  

z

Install nut -13- and tighten to 10 N.m (7.4 ft lb).  

z

Now tighten bolts -5- to 25 N.m (18.4 ft lb).  

z

Now pull out transportation securing device -6-.  

z

Install universal joint shaft onto steering pinion.  

z

Tighten bolt -8- to 30 N.m.

Inserted with locking fluid

Use locking fluid D 000 600  

6. Transportation securing device

The ignition key removal lock cable must also be hooked-on, vehicles with an automatic transmission. See

Installing steering lock switch.
