1.

 PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT

1. Turn ignition switch ON and wait for 2 second or more.

2. Check “SELF-DIAG RESULTS” of IPDM E/R.
Is “CAN COMM CIRCUIT” displayed?

YES

>> Refer to 

LAN-15, "Trouble Diagnosis Flow Chart"

.

NO

>> Refer to 

GI-45, "Intermittent Incident"

.

CAN COMM CIRCUIT
[U1000]

When IPDM E/R cannot communicate with CAN com-
munication signal continuously for 2 seconds or more

In CAN communication system, any item (or items) of 
the following listed below is malfunctioning.
• Transmission
• Receiving (ECM)
• Receiving (BCM)
• Receiving (Combination meter)

B2098 IGNITION RELAY ON STUCK

Description

• IPDM E/R operates the ignition relay when it receives an ignition switch ON signal from BCM via CAN com-

munication.

• Turn the ignition relay OFF by pressing the push-button ignition switch once when the vehicle speed is 4 km/

h (2.5 MPH) or less.

• Turn the ignition relay OFF with the following operation when the vehicle speed is more than 4 km/h (2.5

MPH) or when an abnormal condition occurs in CAN communication from the combination meter (Emer-

gency OFF)

- Press and hold the push-button ignition switch for 2 seconds or more.

- Press the push-button ignition switch 3 times within 1.5 seconds.

NOTE:

Ignition relay does not turn ON for 3 seconds after emergency OFF even if the push-button ignition switch is

pressed.

1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

2. Erase “SELF-DIAG RESULTS” of IPDM E/R.

3. Turn ignition switch OFF, and wait for 1 second or more. 

4. Turn the ignition switch ON. Check “SELF-DIAG RESULTS” again.
Is “IGN RELAY ON” displayed?

YES

>> Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to 

PCS-30, "Removal and Installation"

.

NO

>> Refer to 

GI-45, "Intermittent Incident"

.

(CPU monitors the status at the contact and excitation

Diagnosis Procedure

Regarding Wiring Diagram information, refer to 

PCS-20, "Wiring Diagram"

.

1.

 CHECK FUSE AND FUSIBLE LINKS

Check that the following IPDM E/R fuse or fusible links are not blown.

Is the fuse blown?

YES

>> Replace the blown fuse or fusible link after repairing the affected circuit.

NO

>> GO TO 2

2.

 CHECK BATTERY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect IPDM E/R.

3. Check voltage between IPDM E/R connectors and ground.

Is the measurement value normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3

NO

>> Repair or replace harness.

 CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

2. Check continuity between IPDM E/R connectors and ground.

Does continuity exist?

YES

>> Inspection End.

NO

>> Repair or replace harness.
