Removal 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Disconnect the solenoid body harness connector. Remove the transmission fluid pan, gasket and filter. See DRAINING & REFILLING under 2. If the valve body separator plate is not being serviced, remove the bolt (1), and install it in any case- threaded bolt hole on the opposite end of the separator plate (2). See Fig. 42 . 3. Remove the valve body bolts (1), and nuts (2). See Fig. 43 . Remove the valve body. See Fig. 44 . Remove the solenoid body assembly bolts and nuts. See Fig. 45 . Remove the solenoid screen assembly 4. The steel Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) check ball is spring-loaded under the valve body separator plate. If the valve body separator plates are to be serviced, go to next step. If not, go to 5. Remove the valve body separator plate reinforcement bolts. See Fig. 47 . Remove the separator plate reinforcement. Lower and remove the valve body separator plate and gaskets. Remove and discard NOTE: If valve body is disassembled, place individual parts in correct order and CAUTION: Prevent the front of the valve body separator plate from sagging and displacing the check balls. NOTE: The rubber check balls and the steel EPC check ball and spring assembly,
