19. When the fluid has completely

drained from the gear case, tip the

snowmobile back to the upright

position, remove the drain adapter,

and install and securely tighten the

drain plug; then remove the check/

fill plug.

20. Pour the exact amount (see specifi-

cation sheet) of Arctic Cat Syn-

thetic ACT Gear Case Fluid into

the check/fill hole; then install the
plug. Tighten securely.

21. Install the driven pulley; then

install the drive belt (see Drive

Belt sub-section) and the belt

guard.

22. Install the left-side access panel;

then close the access panel.

FRONT SUSPENSION

 NOTE: Arctic Cat recommends
that Arctic Cat Low-Temp Grease
(p/n 4639-365) be used for this pro-
cedure.

It is very important that the front sus-

pension is greased on a monthly basis

using low-temperature grease. The

front suspension should also be greased

after trailering the snowmobile on an

open trailer. Pump grease into the spin-

dle grease fitting (both sides) until

grease is noted coming out of the top

and bottom of the spindle. Wipe excess

grease from the spindle.

On the Crossfire/M-Series models,

pump grease into the upper steering

shaft grease fitting (located on each

side of the snowmobile directly below

the inner cap screw securing the upper

A-arm to the chassis) until grease is

noted coming out of the bottom of the

shaft. Wipe excess grease from the

shaft.

! CAUTION

The correct lubricant to use in the
gear case is Arctic Cat Synthetic
ACT Gear Case Fluid (p/n 4639-628).
Any substitute may cause serious
damage to the drive system.

! CAUTION

Do not add more or less than the
recommended amount of lubricant
to the gear case or damage to the
gear case will occur. Oil level
should be at the Oil Fill Level on
the gear case cover.

 NOTE: Illustrated are the general
locations of grease fittings. Actual
locations will vary from model to
model.

1. Shut engine off and wait for all

moving parts to stop.

2. With the gas tank nearly empty

(less than 1/4 full), lay the snow-

mobile on its left side. A piece of

cardboard should be used to pro-

MAINTENANCE

The longevity and safety of the snow-

mobile can be increased by making

periodic checks of the items in the pre-

ceding checklist.

If, at any time, abnormal noises, vibra-

tions, or improper working conditions

of any component of this snowmobile

are detected, DO NOT OPERATE

THE SNOWMOBILE. Take the snow-

mobile to an authorized Arctic Cat

Snowmobile dealer for inspection and

adjustment or repair. If not under war-

ranty, this service is at the discretion

and expense of the snowmobile owner.

The snowmobile should be taken to an

authorized Arctic Cat Snowmobile

dealer at the end of each snowmobiling

season for general inspection and for

off-season storage servicing. This

inspection and servicing is at the

expense of the snowmobile owner.

AIR CLEANER/FILTER

(1100 cc Turbo)

The air filter inside the air cleaner

housing must be kept clean to provide

good engine power and gas mileage. If

the snowmobile is used under normal

conditions, inspect the filter weekly

and replace the filter at the intervals

specified. If operated in adverse condi-

tions, inspect and service the filter

more frequently. Use the following

procedure to remove the filter and to

inspect and/or clean/replace it.

1. Remove the air cleaner cover; then

remove the air filter.

2. Clean the foam filter with warm

soapy water; then allow it to dry
thoroughly.

3. Clean any debris from inside the

air intake plenum.

4. Place the filter into the plenum.

5. Secure the air cleaner cover onto

the plenum.

FUEL SYSTEM

! CAUTION

Failure to inspect the air filter fre-
quently if the snowmobile is used
in adverse conditions can damage
the turbocharger/engine.

! CAUTION

Do not use compressed air to dry
the filter. Damage to the filter may
occur.

! CAUTION

A torn air filter can cause damage
to the turbocharger/engine. Con-
taminants may get inside the turbo-
charger/engine if the filter is torn.
Carefully examine the filter for
holes or tears before and after
cleaning it. Replace the filter with a
new one if it is torn.

! CAUTION

Do not run the engine without the
air filter installed. Severe damage to
the turbocharger/engine will occur.

! WARNING

Whenever any maintenance or
inspection is made on the fuel sys-
tem in which there may be fuel
leakage, there should be no weld-
ing, smoking, open flames, etc., in
the area.
