7. Remove the lock nuts from the adjuster spring

brackets. Account for four washers and two

springs.

8. Remove the two cap screws, lock washers, and

washers securing the adjuster block axle to the

rear axle mounting bracket.

9. Slide the adjuster blocks with axle (A) and

spacer (B) off the spring brackets; then slide the

adjuster bracket axle out of the articulating

frame mounting brackets and axle tube. Account

for the axle/spacer, spring brackets, slide blocks

(C), springs, washers, and lock nuts.

10. Remove the two cap screws securing the rear

idler wheel assembly to the swing arm.

„ NOTE: Account for four washers, idler wheels,
two adjustment bushings (A), four bushing inserts
(B), two idler wheel spacers (C), and the rear axle.

„ NOTE: On the center idler wheel, there are inner
and outer idler wheel inserts.

11. Remove the track adjusters from the swing arm.

INSPECTING

„ NOTE: Whenever a part is worn excessively,
cracked, or damaged in any way, replacement is
necessary.

1. Inspect each idler wheel, wheel insert, and plas-

tic hub for cracks or damage.

2. Rotate the idler wheel bearings (by hand) and

inspect for binding or roughness.

3. Inspect all bushings for wear or damage.

4. Inspect all weldments and the tubing of the arms

and spacers for cracks or unusual bends.

5. Inspect the track bumper guides for wear.

6. Inspect the axle surfaces for any signs of corro-

sion. If corrosion is found, lightly buff the sur-

face of the axle with #400 wet-or-dry sandpaper;

then apply a light coat of grease.

ASSEMBLING

1. Install the track adjusters; then secure with two

cap screws and lock nuts. Tighten to specifica-

tions.

2. Place a bushing spacer (B) in each end of the

two idler wheel spacers (C). Slide the rear axle

through one side of the swing arm and through a

washer and an idler wheel spacer assembly; then

in order on the rear axle, place an idler wheel

spacer, center idler wheel, the remaining idler

wheel spacer assembly, and a washer. Continue

to slide the rear axle through the other side of

the swing arm.

3. Slide an adjuster bushing (A) on each end of the

rear axle making sure the bushings are properly

positioned on the adjuster bolts; then secure

each rear axle idler wheel with an insert, washer,

and a cap screw. Tighten only until snug.

„ NOTE: Make certain the adjuster bushing is
properly positioned.

4. Secure the bumper guides to the swing arm

using two cap screws, washers, and lock nuts.

5. Slide the adjuster block axle (A) into the

adjuster block spacer (B); then slide an adjuster

block (C) on each end of the axle and slide the

assembly into the swing arm.

6. Secure the adjuster block axle to the swing arm

with two cap screws. Tighten to specifications.

7. In order on each spring bracket, place a washer

(A), spring (B), washer (A), and lock nut (C).

8. Place a bushing and serrated axle on each side of

swing arm; then secure the swing arm to the

articulating frame mounting brackets using the

cap screw and lock nut. Tighten to specifica-

tions.

9. Slide the spring bracket axle through a mounting

bracket, spring bracket, spring bracket spacer,

remaining spring bracket, and remaining mount-

ing bracket.

10. Position the articulating skid frame mounting

brackets on the skid frame with the spacers (A)

placed between the skid frame and each mount-

ing bracket.

11. Secure the mounting brackets using the four cap

screws and lock nuts. Tighten to specifications.

12. Secure the rear arm to the mounting brackets

with the cap screw and lock nut; then tighten all

mounting bracket hardware to specifications.

13. Slide a washer and outer axle spacer on each end

of the articulating mounting bracket axle.

Assemble each center pivot idler wheel assem-

bly by placing a washer, idler wheel, and washer

on each center pivot idler wheel cap screw.

Secure each idler wheel assembly to the articu-

lating mounting bracket axle.

ADJUSTING

1. Place the skid frame assembly on a flat work

surface.

2. Preload the articulating suspension by equally

adjusting the lock nuts on the spring brackets

until both rear idler wheels are 2.5 cm (1 in.) off

the work surface.
