22. Remove the two remaining hoses from the sepa-

rator tank; then remove the two cap screws and

lock nuts securing the coolant/separator tank

assembly. Remove the tank assembly from the

chassis.

23. Remove the two cap screws (A) securing the

close-off cover to the front end; then move the

steering post assembly to the right side of the

engine compartment. Remove the cover and

account for the exhaust pipe mounting tab (B)

from the right-side cap screw.

24. Remove the three cap screws securing the oil

reservoir to the chassis.

25. Loosen the clamps securing the throttle body

assembly to the intake flanges; then remove the

assembly and allow it to lie on the tunnel.

Remove the positive cable from the starter

motor.

„ NOTE: It is advisable to close off the intake ports
of the cylinder head to avoid any foreign objects or
components from falling into the engine.

26. Disconnect the harness plug-ins from the igni-

tion coils (A) and camshaft timing sensor (B).

27. Unhook the rubber strap securing the ECU  to

the support gusset.

„ NOTE: With the main harness plug-ins discon-
nected, secure the harness up and out of the way
from the engine. 

28. Remove the two lock nuts (A) from under the

chassis skid plate; then remove the through-bolt

(B) and the lock nut (C) from the forward engine

mount.

29. Using an appropriate engine hoist, lift the

engine (from the proper lift points) with oil res-

ervoir from the chassis.

„ NOTE: Engine lift points consist of the four
threaded holes (A) on the front and rear corners of
the cylinder head or on the exhaust manifold (B).

„ NOTE: It is advisable to lift the engine at an angle
(with the PTO-side upward) to allow clearance for
the oil reservoir to be removed from the chassis
with the engine.

Disassembling Engine

(120 cc)

1. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil; then

install the oil plug and tighten securely.

2. Remove the wing nut securing the air cleaner

end cap to the air cleaner housing.

3. Remove the cap screw and flange nuts securing

the air cleaner housing to the carburetor and

engine.

4. Remove the air breather hose from the air

cleaner housing; then remove the air cleaner

housing from the carburetor. Account for the

gasket.

! CAUTION

When lifting the engine out of the chassis, make
sure that all harness connectors are disconnected
and the harness is free and clear of the engine.

5. Mark the locations of the springs for assembly;

then disconnect the rod and spring from the car-

buretor.

6. Slide the carburetor off the mounting studs.

Account for a gasket, insulator block, and a gas-

ket.

7. Remove the recoil starter/fan housing assembly.

8. Remove the screws securing the recoil starter

pulley to the flywheel; then remove the nut

securing the flywheel to the crankshaft.

9. Using a flywheel puller, remove the flywheel.

10. Remove the high tension lead from the spark

plug and two wire forms; then disconnect the

ignition coil wire.

11. Remove the cap screws securing the ignition

coil to the crankcase housing.

12. Remove the cylinder head cover.

13. Remove the air breather body assembly from the

cylinder head cover. Account for a gasket.

14. Remove the screws securing the reed stopper to

the air breather body assembly.

15. Remove the lock nuts and pivots securing the

rocker arms to the cylinder head.
