Removing

Remove center armrest. See FRONT ARMREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .  

z

Remove ashtray -11-. See REAR ASHTRAY FROM CENTER CONSOLE FROM 02.01 TO 04.03, 
REMOVING AND INSTALLING . Remove drink holder - 5 -. See DRINK HOLDER FROM 02.01, 
REMOVING AND INSTALLING . 

WARNING:

Before working on electrical system: Disconnect battery Ground (GND) 
strap. See BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING .

NOTE:

z

The removal and installation procedures may have to be modified slightly 
depending on equipment variants.  

z

Obtain radio unit code before disconnecting battery.

Pull parking brake lever on, release trim using a screwdriver and pull forward off parking brake lever -
arrow-.

Unclip gearshift boot -1- from center console and slide upward.

Only if required for further work, remove clamp -2- and remove gearshift along with boot. 

See SELECTOR MECHANISM ON TRANSMISSION SIDE, AS OF 06.99 .

Pull cover - 8 - off and separate cigarette lighter - 7 - connection.  

z

Pull cover - 9 - off and separate power socket - 10 - connection.  

z

Remove insert - 12 -.  

z

Unclip cover caps - 3 -and remove screws - 2 -.  

z

Remove screws - 4 - and - 13-.  

z

Lift rear of center console -1-, pull to rear and remove upward over the gearshift.

Removing

To remove ashtray -1-, turn item to the left and take off upward. 

NOTE:

After reconnecting battery, ensure the vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric 
windows) is checked as per Workshop manual and/or Owner's manual.
