Securing steering column before removal 

An assembly aid is required so that the upper and lower parts of the steering column do not pull apart when 
pulling off steering gear. 

If the upper and lower parts of the steering column are pulled too far apart or pushed too close together 
the splines will be separated . 

It is possible that rattling noises may occur later on if splines are not in their original installation 
position .

Push or pull steering column together or apart until the hole is visible.  

z

Insert for example a clip in the hole -arrow-.

Remove nut -3-.

Pull out bolt -1-.  

z

Remove bolts -2- and take out steering column.  

1. Hex bolt  

2. Hex bolt 

z

22 N.m (16.2 ft lb)  

3. Hex nut 

z

10 N.m (7 ft lb)  

4. Cross member for steering column
