PTFE sealing rings 

Coil spring seals 

Continuation for all seals 

z

Install sealing flange immediately and lightly tighten all bolts.  

z

Tighten sealing flange securing bolts using an alternating sequence and torque to 15 N.m.  

z

Remove excess sealing compound.  

z

Install sump. See OIL SUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .  

z

Install crankshaft toothed belt pulley and counter support with 3415. Torque bolts to 90 N.m + 1/4 turn 
(90°) further.

Note the use-by date of the sealant.  

z

The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes of 
applying the silicone sealing compound.  

NOTE:

Use guide sleeve T10053/1 to fit sealing flange with the oil seal already 
installed.

NOTE:

Use guide sleeve 2080 A to fit sealing flange with the oil seal already installed.

NOTE:

The sealant must be allowed to cure for approx. 30 minutes after installing the 
sump. After this time the engine may be filled with engine oil.

Install toothed belt and adjust timing. See TOOTHED BELTS, REMOVING, INSTALLING AND 
TENSIONING .  

z

Install tensioning element for ribbed belt.  

z

Install ribbed belt. See RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .  

Drive plate, removing and installing 

Special tools, equipment, testers, measuring instruments and auxiliary items required

VW 558 Counter support tool  

NOTE:

Thread and shoulder must be free of oil and grease.

Loosening and tightening drive plate

Secure counter support tool VW 558 to the drive plate with a M8 x 45 hex bolt. Place two M10 hex nuts 
between counter support tool and drive plate.
