ATF Screen

3.1

ATF Screen, Removing and Installing

Removing
– Remove the transmission fluid pan. Refer to

⇒ “2 Transmission Fluid Pan”, page 125

 .

– Remove the bolts -arrows- from the ATF screen.
– Remove the ATF screen -A- from the valve body.
Installing
– Lightly coat the seals on the ATF screen suction collar with

ATF.

– Replace the ATF screen if the seals are loose or faulty.

– Mount the ATF screen -A- on the valve body and tighten the

bolts -arrows- to the tightening specification. Refer to

⇒ “4.1.1 Tightening Specifications”, page 132

 .

– Install the transmission fluid pan. Refer to

⇒ “2 Transmission Fluid Pan”, page 125

 .

– Fill with ATF and check the level. Refer to

⇒ “11 ATF Level, Checking and Filling”, page 112

WARNING

Do not run the engine or tow the vehicle when the ATF pan is

removed or when there is no ATF in the transmission.

♦ The valve bodies and the wiring harnesses can also be re‐

moved with the transmission installed.

♦ Install the O-rings with ATF. Other types of lubrication lead to

faults in the transmission control module hydraulics.

♦ Always replace a contaminated or faulty valve body.
♦ Only use lint-free cloths
♦ Check the ATF level after installing the ATF pan. Refer to
