Check the sealing surface of the pinion flange/yoke for nicks, burrs or rough tool marks that Check for worn or broken parts and replace as necessary. REAR AXLE HOUSING INSPECTION Carefully and thoroughly inspect all drive unit parts before assembly. Refer to Differential Replacement (8.6, 9.5/9.5LD Inch Axles) or Differential Replacement (10.5 Inch, 11.5 Inch Axle). 2. Install the original shim to the pinion bearing retainer. If the original shim is not available, install a 0.41 mm (0.016 in) shim to build pinion depth.
